The Ordering Process — Simple
These days we can do so many things from the comfort of our home, so why not a DNA test as well? Absolute DNA Services has streamlined the process for the Grandparent Test, so it’s as easy as:
- Choose your test and order it online.
- Pay for your test and any extras you require.
- You will get your home sample collection kit in the mail. This test provides oral swabs for one grandparent, one mother, and one grandchild.
- Receive your results in a quick timeframe (within 7-10 working days of receiving samples).
Important Note: Standard turnaround time for results can only be guaranteed for oral swabs. Clients wanting to provide discreet samples for DNA analysis should expect a longer turnaround time.
About Grandparent Testing
There are two options offered when ordering this test:
Grandparent Test
This is used to verify the biological relationship (if there is one) between a child and their grandparent. A sample from the mother is required.
Duo Grandparent Test
Comparing both the grandfather and grandmother’s DNA to the child’s. A sample from the mother is not required for this test.
The importance of testing both grandparents
By testing the DNA of both the grandfather and the grandmother, the reconstructed DNA is used to establish a DNA profile for the parent of the child in question. Absolute DNA Services then compares the child sample to the reconstructed DNA sample provided by the grandparents, to either confirm or rule out if the parent is biological to them.
Male only DNA tests
If the participants providing samples are only male, a Y Chromosome Test is advised. This is the best way of confirming a paternal bloodline, as males from the same paternal line will have a copy of the same Y chromosome. If results indicate that two (or more) males share the same Y chromosome, then they will also share a paternal relative.
